Funeral services for Wayne A. Siefers, 52, of Davenport will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady Of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport. Burial will follow at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m. Mr. Siefers died on Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus in Davenport following a lengthy illness. Wayne Anthony Siefers was born Dec. 24, 1951, to Alvin and Irvina (Rickie) Siefers in Davenport. He attended St. Alphonsis Catholic School and graduated from Davenport West High School in 1970. During the Vietnam War he served in the United States Army with the 554th Engineering Battalion. For his military service he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, a Viet Nam Service Medal with 2 Stars, and a Viet Nam Campaign Medal. Following his service in the Army he married Susan Boswell in 1976 and later married Constance "Connie" Snyder in 1991. Mr. Siefers had retired from the J.I. Case Company, East Moline works, in October of 2003 where he had been employed as a machine operator for 25 years. He had also worked at Red Jacket Pump. Wayne was a member of the AMVETS, the VFW, and also UAW Local No. 1304 in Moline. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and golfing. He most especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his nieces and nephews. Survivors include his father and step-mother, Alvin and Jane (Hoenig) Siefers, of Davenport; two sisters, Susan Cheek, of Davenport and Julie Ann Siefers, of Waukegan, Ill.; four brothers, Michael Siefers, of Polk City, Iowa, Dennis Siefers and Richard Siefers, both of Davenport, and James (and his wife Kim) Siefers, also of Davenport; seven nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Melissa, Ashley, Mallory, Brianna, Derrick and, and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his mother Irvina, a daughter, Melissa in infancy and a brother Russell.
