Kathryn Giese

October 4th, 1951 - July 7th, 2024

Kathryn Jo Giese, 72, of Ash Grove, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Kathryn was born in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Walter & Edith Scharfenberg. She married Larry Lee Giese on May 22, 1970. He preceded her in death in 1989.  Kathryn graduated from Davenport West High Class of 1970. 

She was also preceded by her parents, one grandson, Shelbie Ray Giese; one granddaughter, Chance Renee Barsch; one son-in-law, Jerald Don Barsch; four brothers, Dan Scharfenberg, Mike Scharfenberg, William Scharfenberg, Thomas Scharfenberg; and two sisters, Judith Vance, and Walda Laster.

Surviving are: her children, Amy Giese, Brian (Keshia) Giese, and Kristy Beers; twelve grandchildren, Kimberly Brantley, Makenzie Giese, Travis Huisinga, Cody Barsch, Paige Barsch, and Matthew Barsch, Hunter Giese, Brinley Giese, Lennox Giese, Bentley Giese, Blaine Giese, Elaina Giese; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Robin Locke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathryn loved socializing, especially in her younger years. Later in life, her socializing was focused on her family. She loved to take her grandchildren fishing, or hold sleepovers with her granddaughters where they would have a nice steak dinner and settle in to watch a Sci-Fi movie or show. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and shopping, especially from QVC where she would purchase clothing and jewelry to dress up in and go out in.

Cremation Rites have been accorded with no public services planned at this time.
