Diana Margaret Hughes obituary, Louisville, KY               Diana Margaret Hughes

Diana Hughes passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, following an extended illness. She was surrounded by her three daughters, who she loved deeply and wholeheartedly.

Diana was born in Davenport, Iowa, the second daughter of Robert and Zella Bishop. She graduated from Davenport West High School. She grew up with a love for the outdoors, and some of her happiest early memories were spent fishing with her father. She also developed a lifelong passion for tennis, one that stayed with her throughout her life and brought her both joy and community.

In 1973, Diana married Robert Hughes in Davenport. They began their life together in Iowa before relocating to Louisville, Kentucky, where they welcomed and raised their three daughters. Diana was a devoted and involved mother who stayed active in both her family's life and the community. She volunteered her time at her children's schools, proudly serving as the go-to field trip mom and a constant, enthusiastic presence as their number one soccer, softball, and cross-country supporter. Beyond her family, she generously gave her time to community and nonprofit organizations. She also believed in caring for herself, staying active at the gym and continuing to play tennis whenever she could.

Later in life, Diana loved traveling with her close friends and her daughters, enjoying her local book club, drinking iced green tea from Starbucks, eating Skyline Chili, watching Green Bay Packers football, going to the zoo and playing with her grandchildren, and soaking up time at her favorite place, the beach. She eventually relocated to Florida to enjoy sunshine and tennis year-round, and later returned to Louisville to be closer to family and friends.

Diana will always be remembered for her bright smile, adventurous spirit, love of laughter, watching movies with buttered popcorn, and her excellent chocolate chip cookies.

Diana is survived by her three daughters, Lindsey Hughes (Brian Duncan), Andrea Hughes (Paul Tandoc), and Lisa Hughes (Clement Curet); and her five beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Marsha Myers (Gary Myers); her niece, Lara Myers Beverly (Phillip Beverly); and by a loving circle of close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later time. Details will be shared with family and friends when available. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diana's memory to the The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
